The WGCC choir, led by Robin Woodrome, and accompanied by Lisa Cripe, sings during worship multiple times per month. The choir leads hymns and songs for worship, and sings anthems. Rehearsals are weekly on Sunday mornings. Come sing with us!

Handbells

WGCC’s English Handbells, given in memory of “Bud” Murphy, add to our musical expression of worship several times per year. Rehearsals usually occur several weeks in advance of a particular worship performance. Contact the church office for more information about handbell choir.

Seekers Sunday School Class

The Seekers Sunday School class meets each Sunday morning in the church parlor to pray, share in community, and engage in Bible Study. The Seekers class reads through books of the Bible, discussing and reflecting on the texts and how we might respond as people of faith. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Disciples Women’s Fellowship

Join us for Bible Study each Monday from 3:00 – 4:30 PM. Pastor Jeff leads the study, and we read through books of the Bible together, focusing on the text, its history, context(s), our questions and comments, and the ways in which the biblical texts interact with our own contexts and faith lives. We meet via Zoom.

Card Makers

WGCC Card Makers meet monthly to talk, share, and craft handmade greeting cards. These cards are used to share greetings within the life of WGCC and beyond, and the sale of cards helps to support the mission and outreach programs of WGCC’s Disciples Women group. If you enjoy good company and cardmaking, come join us! Please contact the church office for more details.

Project N.O.W.

Project N.O.W. provides weekend meals and snacks for families with preschool children who participate in local Head Start preschool. We provide monthly deliveries of fresh and shelf-stable food to help families of preschool children better provide meals and snacks on weekends when children are not participating in school-provided meals. Volunteers for Project N.O.W. help by donating funds, shopping for food, delivering and packing food boxes, and praying for the families in the program.

Worship Leadership

We share many roles as we worship together each Sunday. Worship leaders are regularly scheduled to serve as welcomers and ushers; deacons who prepare communion; children’s moment presenters; liturgists who lead prayers and read scripture; preachers; mission moment presenters; musicians; and communion table participants. Please contact the church office to learn more about worship leadership opportunities, or to volunteer for a worship leadership role.

Memorial Boulevard Soup Kitchen

WGCC members partner with Memorial Boulevard Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to provide lunch for MBCC’s neighborhood soup kitchen on the third Thursday of each month. Volunteers can donate funds, help with planning and shopping for meals, and help to prepare and serve meals at MBCC. Please contact the church office for more information or to volunteer.

Food Bank pick-up and delivery

Memorial Boulevard Christian Church / Webster Rockhill Ministries Food Bank Delivery

On the 2nd Thursday of each month, WGCC rents a 26’ box truck to deliver orders from the St. Louis Area Foodbank to food pantries operated by Memorial Boulevard Christian Church and by Webster/ Rock Hill Ministries.  The combined orders are usually 6-8 tons.  As long as we are able to rent a “dock high” truck, the Foodbank will load the orders using fork trucks.

On delivery, however, the orders must be unloaded manually, usually at around 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Boulevard, and at around noon at Webster/ Rock Hill. The pantries are generally able to arrange at least some volunteers to help with unloading, although it is a fair amount of physical work.  Strong backs and weak minds are helpful, but not required.
